I watched the whole thing yesterday; when my alarm rang at 4, it was maybe just starting. A smudge on the edge of the full moon. It could have just been the first sign of waning, but by 5:15 or so, it was definitely growing, and I had a perfect ringside view as the whole moon went dark, and then as the lunar disk showed. It didn’t look red to me, but brownish: the color of dried blood, maybe, with a tiny bright spot still along the rim. A brown moon low and obvious in the sky at 6 AM. Very neat! It’s the first eclipse I’ve had a clear viewing of, and I wish I had taken pictures.
I did snap a couple of shots with my phone, but I doubt they’re even worth checking out now. A tiny moon-dot framed in lots of black? Probably.
